Michael D. Roberts – Chief Executive Officer

Holding both residential and commercial general contracting licenses, Mr. Roberts has more than 25 years of progressive experience as an accomplished entrepreneur and business visionary. Mr. Roberts’ significant home-building and land development career spans 11 years. His business expertise has earned him a 2006 ACE award for one of the top 10 fastest growing Phoenix companies as well as the coveted Arizona Companies to Watch award from the Arizona Small Business Association and the Edward Lowe Foundation.
Prior to entering the home-building field, Mr. Roberts owned and operated a number of successful retail operations. In 1987 he founded Video Power Stores and grew the company from a single movie rental store in Phoenix to 42 stores employing 350 people in several major markets including Tucson, Denver and Las Vegas. His exceptional track record was recognized by the Brown & Bain Distinguished Business Leader program, as he was nominated for the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Mike Roberts received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University, and currently resides in Scottsdale with his two children and is actively involved in the community. In his free time, Mike enjoys his passion for flying. He is a licensed pilot with type-ratings on five Citation jets, and has logged considerable time on a number of twin-and single-engine planes.
Lance Kintz – Chief Financial Officer
Lance Kintz has 25 years of private and public accounting experience with a diverse industry background for start-up through Fortune 500 companies. Since 2001 Lance has served as President of SageTree Consulting, a change management firm focused on strategic, high performance, value, and activity based financial and operational analysis and solutions for firms ranging in size from $1MM to over $120 million in sales.

Previously Mr. Kintz was CFO for Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casinos and Ski Apache (IMG), a tribal owned entertainment facility in Mescalero, NM with 2007 revenue of $130 million and over 1,400 employees. In his role, Lance oversaw SEC reporting, improved investor and lender relations and increased EBITDA by 70%. Lance Kintz has also served as Controller/Finance Director for the Arizona Republic Newspaper, a Gannett Corp. publication that is the nation’s 13th largest daily newspaper with $500 million in annual sales where he was responsible for implementing financial and operational initiatives to streamline the organization’s operations.
Lance Kintz received an MBA from Pepperdine University and his BS in Accounting from Arizona State University. He held his Arizona CPA license for over 25 years and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Finance Executives International (FEI), the Institute of Management Consulting (IMC), and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
Christopher F. Artley – Chief Administrative Officer
Chris Artley has more than 20 years experience in operations management. From 2007-2009, Mr. Artley has served as a financial and operations consultant with Diamondback Metal Systems, a custom metal building systems supplier and builder in the self-storage industry.

Since 2006, Mr. Artley has been the Principal of Strategic Property Development Group, an Arizona based real estate investment firm focused on the rehabilitation and wholesaling of residential real estate throughout the metropolitan Phoenix area. Prior to forming Strategic Property Development Group, Mr. Artley was Vice President of Operations for Charlevoix Homes, LLC, an Arizona based developer of single and multi-family homes. In his role, he was responsible for maintaining the strategic direction and managing the day-to-day operations for the firm.
Chris Artley has also served as Business Manager for The NUCA Group, LLC where he fulfilled the day-to-day financial and operations management functions for this mid-sized, Phoenix based real estate investment company. Prior to his experience in the real estate field, Mr. Artley was Midwest Regional Manager with the national hotelier Homestead Village, Inc. as well as District Manager for regional video retailer Mammoth Video.
Mr. Artley holds a BS in Business Administration from Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Artley currently serves on the Phoenix Advisory Council for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Great West Division as well as serving on the Board of Directors of Boxer Luv Rescue, a not for profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving Boxers throughout Central & Northern Arizona. Mr. Artley holds both his insurance producers license and a residential real estate license in the state of Arizona.
Ann Cuneo – Director of Marketing
Ann Cuneo has over 20 years of marketing expertise providing marketing design services to a diverse customer base including retail and manufacturing in addition to business development and customer relations.

Prior to her joining Sure Storage USA, Ms. Cuneo was the Vice President of Marketing for Old Iron Doors West Ltd. from 2002-2009 where she was responsible for concept development and the design production of a range of projects including identity programs, trade advertising, marketing collateral, direct mail campaigns, web branding and site design. Previous to this Ms. Cuneo assisted various startup companies by formulating a marketing strategy that included competitive analysis, market positioning, brand management and contract negotiation.
Ann, a Philadelphia native moved to Phoenix in 1986. Guilford College in North Carolina is where she received her Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Sociology with an emphasis in Marketing and Business Management. Ann also is a licensed Realtor in Arizona. She now lives in Scottsdale Arizona with her husband and her two children
Steven Burgoyne – Director of Capital Markets
Steven Burgoyne has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, investment sales and asset management. Mr. Burgoyne has an extensive background in client development as well as sourcing opportunities with private money, equity, mezzanine, life insurance companies, conduits and banking institutions.

From 2007 to 2009 Mr. Burgoyne was Senior Vice President of Trinan Commercial Finance, a regional capital advisory firm where he was responsible for the development of the company’s private money division. Steven Burgoyne has also served as Vice President for Merchants Funding, LLC, a division of Merchants Mortgage & Trust Corporation. In his role, Mr. Burgoyne was responsible for developing the commercial division for this private money lender producing $50 million in annual loans. In addition, Mr. Burgoyne has held positions with GMAC Commercial, Pacific Southwest and US Homes.
Steven Burgoyne received his MBA in Finance and BS in Economics from Arizona State University and is currently a member of NAIOP, ICSC, ULI, and ACMLA.
Greg Call – Director of Operations
Greg Call has 30 years of experience in the self-storage sector. Since 1981 Mr. Call has been involved in brokerage, design, construction and management of more than 1,000 self-storage projects encompassing over 75 million square feet of rentable space and more than 625,000 individual storage units.

Since 2001 Greg has served as Founder and CEO of Self Storage Works, the self-storage industry’s premier consulting services provider currently offering management and consulting services to 24 facilities throughout California, Hawaii and Nevada.
From 1981-2001 Mr. Call was President of The Call Company, a self-storage management, brokerage and design firm that has managed numerous properties throughout the Western United States. In addition, the Company has advised more than 50 owners on development of new facilities throughout the country. Greg Call is an aggressive revenue manager who uses simple supply and demand dynamics to drive profits as well as a creative marketer who outsells other operators by allowing a facility’s market to dictate rates and revenue increases rather than engaging in price wars with competitors.
